Yoga at Work for Local Maui Businesses
If someone had told me that one day I would be teaching Yoga inside banks, power plants and offices all over Maui I’m not sure that I would have believed them ;), but amazingly enough its true! Since I created my Yoga at Work program and teamed up with the Blue Zones Project I am now teaching Yoga inside many different local Maui businesses and loving it!
It has been a fun and rewarding experience for me to share the powerful practice of Yoga with so many new people, many of whom have never tried it before. These Yoga at Work sessions area great way to share different Yoga stretches and techniques to help people reduce tension, improve their core strength and balance, plus keep their energy levels up so that they are feeling great and doing their best work. And since I tailor the sessions to the demands of each specific workplace each session is unique and customized to meet that team’s needs.

Yoga at Work on Maui with the Blue Zones Project
Have you heard of the Blue Zones Project? It was new to me too until a few years ago when I first learnt that Central Maui was about to become one. Doing some research I learnt that the Blue Zones Project is a global initiative with the goal to make it easier for people to make healthy choices at home and at work.
The project was developed by Dan Buettner, a National Geographic fellow, who has travelled around the world studying a variety of cultures and people. In these explorations he began to notice several common characteristics amongst the communities where people were living the longest. To Buettner, it seemed as though the elders in these Blue Zones (as he termed them) had tapped into key tools (the Power 9) that allowed them to thrive long into later life.
What he did next was the key!
If these powerful tools worked in these populations around the world, why not try to replicate them elsewhere to help others thrive too? Thus the “Blue Zones Project” and the “Power 9” were born with the mission of helping people integrate these tools into their everyday lives so they can boost their health and vitality now and for years to come.
In my humble opinion the Power 9 are incredible, not only in their simplicity but also their potency. They are well researched, validated and practical tools for boosting our vitality! And given how closely they align with my personal and professional goals I was SO EXCITED! Can’t we all benefit from: down shifting to lower stress levels, moving more, knowing our purpose, connecting to a higher power, eating more plants, bonding with others, eating til you are 80% full, having a glass of wine? YES!!

So when I saw that this great project was coming to Maui, I immediately reached out to them to see how I could get involved. I am so glad I did, because as it turns out a significant part of the Blue Zones Project is helping Worksites implement the Power 9 for their team. This is when I really got excited because I am super passionate about helping people integrate Yoga into their workday!
It has been been amazing to partner with the Blue Zones Project and help many Worksites across Maui with my Yoga at Work sessions. Through our partnership I have been given the opportunity to share this transformative practice and all of it’s tools with so many new people, many of whom have never tried Yoga before, what a fantastic and rewarding experience. Try this Workplace Yoga move to relax tension and get a boost of energy
This powerful strengthening exercise will activate muscles in your upper back, stretch the muscles on the front of your shoulders and chest and help you lengthen your spine back into it’s neutral position. All of these combined will help take deeper breaths, sit taller, feel more alert and be more productive.
As our energy drops later in the day it is common for us to slouch forward, perpetrating this C curve of the spine. Taking periodic movement breaks is a potent way to counteract this and lessen the effects of long hours of sitting. Our body does best with regular movement which is why sitting stationary with weak posture takes such a negative tool on us!

Keep your hips happy with this Yoga Workshop!
Got tight hips? In truth most of us do!
Due to posture, work and/or life activities we often have atleast one muscle group in or around our hips that is tight….chances are we have a few…;)
When you consider that there are 45 muscles that attach to or around our hips it makes sense that we dedicate some time to this super important area!
Freedom of movement in our hips is extremely important for overall mobility, spinal health and happiness, as well as quality of life (less pain!!).
This workshop will be a blend of:
- active poses to warm you up safely and relax surface tension
- deep stretches to release stored tension
- restorative poses to restore length
